Baker Perkins’ dough feed systems are engineered to transfer mixed dough from the mixer to the forming machines, converting batch dough into a continuous, metered flow. Each system is purpose-built to match plant capacity, product type, and layout, ensuring smooth transfer, uniform feed, and gentle dough handling. Designed for integration within automated bakery lines, these systems maintain product consistency and operational reliability across long production runs.
Consistent flow and control
Metered dough delivery ensures even distribution into forming machine hoppers, maintaining a constant dough level and preventing bridging. Optional cutting, chopping, and kibbling units spread dough evenly across the full width of the forming machine, supporting precise product weight control and uniformity.
Hygienic, purpose-built design
Every system is constructed from hygienic stainless steel with easy-clean access, meeting the sanitation requirements of industrial bakery environments. Configurations can include elevators, tipping units, conveyors, and feeders, optimized for either single- or multi-floor plant layouts.
Seamless integration for automated lines
Dough feed systems can operate as standalone units or as part of a fully integrated production line, from mixing to forming and wrapping. Variable-speed drives synchronize with downstream equipment to ensure smooth, uninterrupted operation.
Main features
- Continuous, metered dough transfer from mixer to forming machine
- Custom-engineered layouts for plant size and product range
- Hygienic stainless steel construction with wash-down capability
- Optional cutting, chopping, and kibbling units for even dough distribution
- Variable-speed drives to match downstream line speeds
- Integrated conveyors for smooth, controlled dough movement
- Compatible with sheeting, rotary moulding, and wirecut lines
Additional features
- Elevator and tipping units for single- or two-floor setups
- Live bottom bins or two-roll feeders for metered dough feed
- Power dough feeders for soft doughs
- Metal detectors with reject systems for equipment protection
- Tub elevator
For single-floor installations, this unit lifts dough in a portable tub to the hopper of the feed system or forming machine. - Tub tilt
In two-floor operations, dough is tipped through a floor chute to the forming machine on the level below. - Two roll feeder
Accepts bulk dough directly from the mixer or a tub. Two slowly rotating grooved rolls meter the dough onto a conveyor. Can be floor- or ceiling-mounted via a dough chute through the mixing room floor. - Live bottom bin
Receives bulk dough from the mixer or a tub. A slow-moving conveyor belt and guillotine mechanism cut dough into slabs for feeding onto a downstream conveyor. - Dough conveyors
Driven by independent variable-speed drives, these conveyors transport dough from the metering unit to the forming machines. Optional metal detectors with reject mechanisms prevent contaminants from reaching the equipment. - Dough kibblers
Ensure even dough distribution across the full width of rotary moulding machines and maintain a consistent hopper level. - Power dough feeders
Self-contained systems for feeding soft dough into wirecut machines or rotary moulders. Directly coupled to the mixer, they deliver an accurately metered, consistent feed of kibbled or sheeted dough to the forming machine.
