Advanced technologies for premix processing
Coperion offers fully integrated premix production systems designed to deliver precise dosing, fast changeovers, and hygienic processing. Our advanced technology supports consistent quality and efficiency for premixes used in food, health, and pharmaceutical industries.
Premix processing solutions for manufacturing excellence
Premix production requires accurate dosing, consistent blending, and hygienic handling to ensure stable product quality. As formulations become more complex, manufacturers also need flexibility for fast changeovers and reliable process control.
Coperion delivers integrated premix processing systems designed to handle each stage efficiently from raw material intake to final discharge. The result is consistent product quality, reduced losses, and smoother, more efficient production.
Industrial powder mixing technologies for consistent production performance
Industrial powder mixing demands uniform blending, reliable flow, and flexibility across different recipes and batch sizes. Maintaining consistency is essential, especially when handling varied ingredients and frequent production changes.
Coperion provides advanced powder mixing solutions that ensure thorough, repeatable blending with efficient handling and hygienic operation. This supports stable production performance and consistent end-product quality.
Premixes processing

Storage and silo
The premix production begins with the safe receiving and storage of raw ingredients. Bulk materials can be stored in Shick Esteve silos, while liquid ingredients such as oils and nutritional additives are stored, blended, and transferred using Shick Esteve Tank and Tote systems. Together, these solutions help maintain ingredient quality, support accurate inventory management, and ensure reliable, consistent production.
By providing safe storage, real-time level monitoring, and flexible handling of different ingredient types, the system creates a stable foundation for efficient premix production from the very first step.

Upstream raw material intake
For manually added ingredients, Shick Esteve Bag dump stations provide an efficient solution for handling powders, premixes, and other bulk solid materials. For applications requiring enhanced sanitation and dust control, the Shick Esteve Hygienic Bag Dump Station (HBD) offers a hygienic design that enables the safe emptying of small bags while minimizing dust generation and supporting sanitary processing conditions.
These solutions help maintain ingredient quality, improve operator safety, and ensure accurate material intake at the start of the premix production process.

Milling
After sifting, the process moves to milling, where ingredient particle size is refined to improve consistency and blend quality. The Kemutec KEK Cone mill provides gentle and efficient grinding, de-lumping, and sizing of powders, helping manufacturers achieve a uniform ingredient profile for accurate mixing and reliable premix production.

Sifting & screening
The stage after powder handling is sifting and screening, where ingredients are refined for purity and consistent particle size. Kemutec KEK Centrifugal sifters remove lumps and unwanted materials to ensure a clean, uniform product.
2 configurations are available:
- Kemutec Pressure sifter for pneumatic conveying systems operating under positive or negative pressure
- Kemutec Gravity sifter for vertical, free-flowing applications where material moves naturally between process stages
Both options feature hygienic construction and high-capacity performance, supporting efficient and reliable operation in food and pharmaceutical production.

Mixing
Following the milling stage, Coperion Horizontal batch mixers deliver consistent blending of powders and granules, handling dry, sticky, and liquid-added formulations with short mixing times and consistent batch-to-batch results. With 3 agitator design options (ribbon, paddle, and plough), manufacturers can select the most suitable configuration based on their processing needs and end product.

Conveying
Once ingredients are refined, they need to move smoothly and safely to the next stage of production. Shick Esteve conveying systems handle both bulk ingredient transfer and minor & micro ingredient dosing, ensuring accurate and controlled flow throughout the process.
Bulk materials are transferred through enclosed vacuum or pressure pneumatic conveying systems, including Coperion and K-Tron dense and dilute phase solutions, ensuring efficient and hygienic ingredient transport throughout the production process. For applications requiring gentle handling, Coperion E-finity® dense phase conveying technology helps minimize product degradation while maintaining reliable material flow.
At the same time, Shick Esteve minor ingredient handling automation uses precise gain- and loss-in-weight dosing systems for accurate recipe control.
To support reliable material transfer, Coperion rotary and diverter valves help ensure smooth and efficient ingredient handling throughout the premix process. These valve technologies support hygienic operation, flexible material routing, and consistent ingredient flow between conveying lines and process equipment.
With integrated control systems like Shick Esteve Clarity Process Management, an ingredient management and food automation software, operators can monitor and manage ingredient flow in real time.

Weighing & feeding
The final stage of premix processing is weighing and feeding, where ingredients are accurately dosed into the process. K-Tron feeding systems ensure precise, consistent delivery of dry ingredients such as flour, sugar, salt, yeast, and flavorings.
Feeding options include:
- K-Tron Single screw feeder – for free-flowing powders and granulates in continuous or batch feeding applications
- K-Tron Twin screw feeder – for accurate dosing of challenging materials such as sticky, fragile, or moisture-sensitive powders
- K-Tron Smart Weigh Belt feeder – for gentle gravimetric feeding of delicate, irregular, or shear-sensitive materials
- K-tron Lost-in-weight feeder – for gentle gravimetric feeding of fragile, free-flowing, or friable powders and granules, ensuring accurate dosing while minimizing product degradation
To enhance performance and control, K-Tron SmartConnex™ system supports loss-in-weight, volumetric, weigh belt, and batch feeding systems for improved management and control.
