The Spectrum™ colour change system is designed to extend the flexibility of Baker Perkins twin-screw extruders by enabling rapid, on-the-run colour changes with minimal waste. It combines precision, speed, and hygiene to deliver consistent, high-quality multi-coloured products in a single continuous run.
High productivity
The Spectrum system eliminates the need for separate production runs for each colour, reducing product handling, storage, and waste. Liquid colours are injected directly into the extruder barrel and blended evenly with other ingredients. An innovative reduced-volume die minimizes differential flow rates, achieving smooth and rapid transitions, typically completed within 45 seconds.
Easy to operate
A simple touch-screen interface allows operators to control and monitor colour changes either locally or via the extruder HMI. The system ensures precise, repeatable transitions between colours without interrupting production, improving efficiency and output.
Easy to clean and maintain
Constructed from stainless steel with an open-frame design, the Spectrum system offers full access for cleaning and maintenance. Hygienic materials and components throughout support easy wash-down and long-term reliability in demanding production environments.
- Four stainless steel holding tanks for colours, each with a low-level probe
- Four transfer pumps
- Optional flow monitoring and control
- One set of automatic routing valves
- One-piece stainless steel base frame
- Open-frame construction for easy access, cleaning, and maintenance
Built entirely from hygienic materials, the stainless steel frame provides excellent accessibility for cleaning and service, ensuring long-term durability and compliance with sanitation standards.
