Manual disc gate valve
The Mucon disc hand operated valve is a radially pivoting swing gate valve, ideal for temperature- and pressure-sensitive applications. Its unique angled seat and floating disc prevent jamming and leakage. Available in five bore sizes and three materials, aluminium, cast iron, and stainless steel, pneumatic versions are also offered.

A radially pivoted arm supports the free-floating disc, allowing it to swing in an arc toward the angled seating face. The disc contacts the seat only at the last moment, creating a mild wedging action.
Applications for swing gate valves include:
- Silo discharge for heavy duty products such as cement powder, sand, limestone powder
- Isolation between silos and screw conveyors
- Feeding reactor vessels (two products react together)
- Hot ash collection hoppers
- Volumetric dosing into processes (paired valves)
- Charging dense phase conveying blow pots
Construction:
- Materials: aluminium alloy, cast iron, stainless steel (stainless steel not available in 300mm bore)
- Flanges drilled to BS4504 PN10 – PCD & number of holes only, not hole size
- No slide guides to jam or collect product
- Only the shaft passes through the body, sealed with a proprietary assembly
- Dovetail groove in seating face ensures dust-tight closure
- Bore sizes: 100–300mm, with outlet larger than inlet to prevent hang-ups
- In-situ seal wear adjustment
- Three purge points for easy cleaning
