Inspiring future talent: Matt Craig engages with local school

Matt Craig, our Chief Operating Officer, recently visited Glenwood Ridge Elementary, a local school in Kansas City, to share his professional experience and technical insight into the baking and food production sector. The visit formed part of our broader commitment to strengthening connections between industry and education, while promoting awareness of the diverse career pathways available within modern food manufacturing.

During his session with students and teaching staff, Matt outlined the evolution of baking from traditional craft to highly advanced, technology-driven production. He highlighted the integration of automation, process optimisation, quality assurance systems, and data-driven decision-making within contemporary operations. By presenting practical, real-world examples, he demonstrated how disciplines such as science, engineering, and food technology converge to drive innovation, efficiency, and product excellence.

In addition to discussing technical advancements, Matt emphasised the importance of curiosity, adaptability, and resilience — qualities essential to thriving in an industry defined by continuous improvement and evolving consumer expectations. As part of their “Matter Mysteries” project, they engineered snack packaging designed to meet the specific properties of different types of food.

This engagement reflects our ongoing dedication to supporting educational initiatives, fostering early interest in STEM-related careers, and contributing to the development of the next generation of skilled professionals who will shape the future of baking.
